"Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their Mississippi hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back." I’ve already watched this genre-blending Southern Gothic supernatural horror musical from Ryan Coogler twice — and will watch again! Released theatrically in the U.S. on April 18, 2025, this eerie and atmospheric film is being hailed as one of the best horror movies in recent years. I absolutely agree.
Wolf Man
Where to Watch: Streaming on Peacock
A modern, R-rated reboot of the classic Universal Monster Movie, this iteration is directed by Leigh Whannell of the Saw franchise. While I didn’t love it, it had an amazing effect where the viewer got to experience scenes from the perspective of the transforming werewolf. It made for a more empathetic portrayal of the character and is worth a watch! Released on January 17, 2025.
28 Years Later
Where to Watch: Available to Rent on Fandango TV & more
"It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped from a biological weapons laboratory. Still living in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amid the infected, some in weirder ways than others". I’m still digesting this one, even though I watched on opening weekend, June 20, 2025. Let me know your thoughts!
Final Destination: Bloodlines
Where to Watch: Streaming on HBO Max
"Plagued by a violent and recurring nightmare, a college student heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle of death and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all". Released May 16, 2025. I love the Final Destination franchise, even though I cannot drive behind a truck loaded with logs to this day! The most recent installment was as much fun as its predecessors, with the added bonus of a touching goodbye from the iconic Tony Todd.

Where to Watch: Streaming on HBO Max
"A weekend getaway at a remote cabin turns to chaos when it's revealed that one of the guests — a subservient android built for human companionship — has gone haywire". Released January 31, 2025. This was my first horror watch of the year, and it did not disappoint. If you like horror films like Fresh, Bodies Bodies Bodies, or Influencer, then you’ll enjoy this one too.

"A promising young football player joins an isolated compound to train under a dynasty team’s aging quarterback". I am not a sports fan and have no idea what a dynasty team is, but based on the dark and eerie trailer for this one, I am down for a watch.
The Black Phone 2
Opens: October 17, 2025
"Teens are again forced to confront the Grabber — a killer who's grown even more powerful in death". I thought the first one captured Stephen King’s short story well and am eager to see where the story goes.
Predator: Badlands
Opens: November 7, 2025
"Cast out from its clan, an alien hunter and an unlikely ally embark on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary". I love the original and really enjoyed the recent historical take on the tale with Prey.
